Disability Pride Day Celebration at the Clyfford Still Museum
To celebrate Disability Pride Day, the 34th anniversary of the ADA, Clyfford Still Museum held a one-of-a-kind event in Colorado. As much pride as we had in spending the day recognizing our legacy, it was also a lively celebration of diversity and inclusion.
A Day of Learning and Participation
The museum's patrons met with local disability support groups and learned more about their resources. The event included a range of hands-on art-making activities that were open to all ages and ability levels, encouraging everyone to express their creativity. With drop-in activities, people could engage at their own pace, developing an accessible and inclusive environment for everyone.
Movement and Accessibility for All
Families had fun participating in movement-based activities that were accessible to all, regardless of ability. The event was interpreted by ASL interpreters, ensuring that every aspect of the celebration - right down to communication and inclusivity itself - fully reflected the mission.
A Celebration of Human Resilience
The day was a strong reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, art, and history. The Clyfford Still Museum created the perfect space to come together and celebrate the achievements and contributions of the disability community.
Continuing the Journey
As we celebrate this incredible day, let's remember the power of unity and strength in diversity.
